General information, not professional advice
Everything on Eaves & Acres is educational information. It is not engineering, electrical, legal, medical or professional advice, and it doesn’t replace a licensed contractor, electrician or your local building, health or agricultural authority.
Estimates, not engineering
Calculator results are estimates based on typical values and the inputs you give. They are not a Manual J heating and cooling load calculation, an electrical load calculation or a code review. Manufacturers’ manuals and spec sheets for your own equipment take priority over our defaults.
What climate data can and can’t tell you
Our climate figures are 30-year averages and probabilities from the NOAA weather station nearest your ZIP code, a median of 7 miles away. Your yard may run colder or warmer, and any given year can differ by weeks. Use the dates as a starting point and watch your local forecast.
Safety
- Follow product labels: for pesticides and herbicides, the label is the law.
- Never mix pool chemicals; follow the manufacturer’s directions for each product.
- Never run a portable generator indoors, in a garage or near openings, and keep working CO alarms.
- Connecting a generator to home wiring needs a transfer switch installed by a licensed electrician.
